Kingsway HR & Training Forum

Kingsway HR and Training Forum

The Kingsway HR & Training Forum aims to Foster sharing of best practice, offer continuing professional development opportunities, provide information and offer networking opportunities.

What is the HR & Training Forum?

The forum exists to provide help and support for businesses from all sectors across our region, particularly set up for those working as personnel, training or safety managers, or as middle/senior line managers with responsibility for managing people. It is co-ordinated by Kingsway Consulting Ltd in Scunthorpe, and it provides a completely FREE opportunity for all participants to engage in the following activities:

Networking with other managers from a wide range of local employers

Share and exchange ideas on policies, procedures and practices involved with managing people

Investigate and become involved with initiatives and funding support designed to benefit local employers and all levels of their workforces

Benefit from personal development of individual skills, knowledge and experience

Access and contribute to relevant and valuable benchmarking information for the local area

Contribute to the strategy and resources made available to our region by both central and local government

The Forum is employer led, with the Chair being an HR Manager from the regional base of a national food manufacturer, who will co-ordinate meetings and arrange guest speakers, particularly from external specialists and from within local businesses who are able to offer their own expertise and share their experiences. The sessions usually incorporate an interesting mix of presentations and lively workshops, which allow participants to share ideas on best practices and networking.

Where and when do the meetings take place?

Meetings take place at the Kingsway Centre in Scunthorpe, and occasionally are hosted by local employers. Meetings usually start at 12noon, and last for approximately four to five hours. A buffet lunch is provided, and refreshments will also be available during meetings.

How can I become a member of The Kingsway HR & Training Forum?

If you are interested in becoming part of the Forum, please contact the Business Support Team at Kingsway Consulting on 01724 294040 or e-mail kcinfo@northlindsey.ac.uk and we will ensure that a place is reserved for you at the next seminar of interest to you. All Forum members will be contacted before every meeting and invited to attend, as well as being given details of the topics to be covered.

Will joining the HR & Training Forum be of benefit to me?

The meetings are extremely beneficial to anyone with a responsibility for Human Resources, Training, Health & Safety, Payroll, or Personnel Administration or areas related to any of these. Valuable information regarding funding, legislation updates, business support and training opportunities is freely shared, networking between organisations is encouraged, many personal and business development opportunities are identified and secured through membership. Being employer led means the focus, relevance and direction of the group remains centred on

the needs and issues of our local business community, to which Kingsway Consulting is totally

committed to supporting in every way it can.

The HR Forum is now in its seventh year and continues to attract membership from a range of business sectors. We have members from the public, private and voluntary sectors, from small and large businesses. We have compiled a programme that will include a number of topics that have been raised by members, as well as topics where we have been approached by individuals keen to share their knowledge and experiences with others.

These events will normally commence at around 12noon, and finish at approximately 4.30pm.

Some clients benefit from attending every session, whilst others attend only those that are of most relevance to them. If you are unable to attend, then please invite one or more of your colleagues to come in your place. We always send out invitations in advance so that you can advise us on whether you or a colleague can attend. We welcome suggestions for topics at future meetings, so if you have any ideas please do share them with us. We aim to organise events that will be of interest and value, so that they will benefit everyone involved.
