Ideas for coping in Financial slump – Partnership designed to help companies face challenges

Colin Guthrie, the GES chairman, said it was important to make sure businesses continued to learn, prepare for the future and invest in learning.

Mr Guthrie is now working with a group of more than 20 businesses across North Lincolnshire determined to provide solutions that help the regional economy.

This business learning community will explore management strategies currently being used to determine how they can  contribute to a regional knowledge of improved methods.

Mr Guthrie said: "It's not about closing the doors and being frightened. It's about being inventive and creative  across our businesses in a real learning partnership".

Kimberley Clark has been the primary collaborator in the development of the group. Colin has been working with Kimberley Clark for several years and welcomes the support of the international business in this initiative. "Despite business pressures, Kimberley-Clark responded to my request for help on leading this programme with me".

Mr Guthrie has also been in discussions with Keith Butler from the Knowledge Exchange at the University of Hull about how  the GES can collaborate with the University to benefit the North Lincolnshire Business community.
