The Greater Economic Success group involves around 20 of the areas largest manufacturers. The group identifies key issues that affect their business performance and through benchmarking and other techniques attempt to find solutions, create best practice and share the learning.
Through adding value to existing large scale manufacturing the GES contributes to creating a more efficient base from which to grow the economy of North Lincolnshire and beyond.
By highlighting current and potential issues the GES has a voice in shaping the regional economic strategic response.
Over 20 companies are now part of this approach, including Harsco, Kimberly Clark, TATA Steel, Singleton Birch, OSI Food Solutions UK, Vossloh TATA, HI TEK Electonic Materials, John Joyce Engineering,CYMARC Engineering, 2 Sisters Food Group, Bibby Distribution.
Chairman of the GES
Colin Guthrie, Senior Business Consultant of Kingsway Consulting is the chairman of the GES with administrative support from the Kingsway Centre
Colin operates both a formal and informal network between the affiliates - making connections between the businesses on all matters that contribute to sustainable growth and competitiveness.
Colin is currently involved in Five Key projects:
- Leading a European strategic group on behalf of OSI - visiting European sites, advising and leading action groups and facilitating European conferences. Colin in 2011 has worked in Germany, Poland, Spain and the Ukraine. 2012 will see Colin in Austria, Hungary and Sebia.
- Developing Operational Capability on behalf of Harsco in South Yorkshire.
- Working with TATA delivering 'Management of Change - Systems Improvement'
- Providing 'one on one' Executive Coaching within Vosloh TATA.
- Working with the Leadership Team of a major re-newables Turbine company
Colin specialises in Strategic / Cultural Change Management.
He has a BA (Hons) from Lancaster University where he specialised in Modern European Economic History. Colin was awarded Master of Arts by the University of Keele, following his four year study of the process of retrenchment in British Steel between 1982-1986. Colin has a Diploma in Counselling following a year's study in the application of Work Based Counselling for Senior Management Teams.
